This week we’ve seen a major acquisition taking place in the industry. Microsoft acquiring Linkedin. A shock rippled through social media land. Linkedin will remain “independent” but obviously, opportunities will be explored together. I only hope that this acquisition doesn’t follow the same path as many other corporate acquisitions: failure. Time will tell.
It is a very interesting development. As Microsoft’s CEO puts it: “It’s really the coming together of the professional cloud and the professional network”. Opportunities can be huge. Integration of Sales Navigator and Microsoft Dynamics can bring a revolution in Social Selling in Microsoft’s corporate accounts. Leveraging Linkedin’s Lynda.com training portal can be another opportunity to bring the Microsoft/Linkedin tandem into corporate training and development departments.
