Are you familiar with a tool called Trello? It’s amazing. I live by it. I use this tool to manage my clients, my social media, my calendar, my learning and so on. In this blog post I will show you how you can use Trello to manage your learning. And how to get amazing results from this.
Are you struggling to manage your learning? Whether you are a student, a marketeer or a sales person… you are learning every day. You may not consider it as learning, but you are processing information. Depending on the amount of information you are processing, you may want to be able to capture what you’re learning. For later reference or for sharing your learning with others. And this is the challenging bit. The challenge of the Internet is not the amount of information that’s available. It’s how you filter it and make it available. You can’t rely on your own memory to organise this filter process. There’s simply too much information. So you have to rely on tools that can help you organise your learning. And this is where Trello comes in.
Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, Trello tells you what’s being worked on, who’s working on what, and where something is in a process. A Trello board is a list of lists, filled with cards, used by you and your team. It’s a lot more than that, though. Trello has everything you need to organise projects of any size. Open a card and you can add comments, upload file attachments, create checklists, add labels and due dates, and more.
So where can trello help you in your learning:
- Organising – Trello can help you organise your learning. You can make boards per subject and then create lists of the various topics around the subject. Each list can have comments and notes, checklists, links to external sources. And you can add activities with dates. By activating the calendar function you can use Trello as a project management tool.
- Sharing – One of the powerful aspects of Trello is that it is a collaboration tool. This means that you can share boards to enable people to work on Trello together. Different people can add content, can add items to the calendar, can make comments etc. This is a great learning functionality, particularly when you work on certain topics with a team of people.
- Access anywhere – You can access Trello on your desktop or your mobile. Which means that you can work on Trello at a time and a place that is convenient to you. You no longer need to bring your laptop to a conference or the lecture theatre. Just pop out your mobile or tablet, open the Trello app, log in and off you go. Add content to the boards/cards during the conference, edit it on the way home and then invite other people who attended to add their feedback. A great way of working.
